The African Women’s Orchestra, a groundbreaking initiative celebrating the vibrant cultural tapestry and musical prowess of women across the African continent, is set to captivate audiences worldwide with its unique blend of talent, diversity, and empowerment.Led by acclaimed visionary co founders, Wandiri Karimi and Keziah Ntwiga, the African Women’s Orchestra unites an ensemble of exceptionally talented female musicians hailing from diverse regions and cultural backgrounds of Africa, the orchestra showcases the power of collaboration through music. This years event will have Musicians playing who are from different parts of East Africa partnering with Brass for Africa, a UK charity with a big operation in Uganda.

"With the theme "Get Out..." for the year 2024, the orchestra embodies the spirit of breaking barriers and pushing boundaries. "Get Out..." stands for Get Out UP and Through, symbolising the resilience, determination, and upward trajectory of African women With a mission to amplify the voices of African women in the global cultural landscape, the orchestra serves as a platform for artistic expression, collaboration, and social change. Through their performances, workshops, and outreach programs, the members of the African Women’s Orchestra inspire and empower women and girls to pursue their musical aspirations and break barriers in traditionally male-dominated fields.
This year’s guest artist Liboi a young soulful artist debut performance with the orchestra whose songs resonate well with this years theme“Get Out Up Through,” promises to be a mesmerising journey through the sounds and rhythms of Africa, featuring a dynamic repertoire that spans traditional folk tunes, contemporary compositions, and innovative cross-cultural collaborations. Audiences can expect an immersive experience that celebrates the diversity and resilience of African women while fostering dialogue, understanding, and solidarity across borders.“We believe in the power of music to transcend boundaries, elevate voices, and catalase positive change. The orchestra will feature Brass Players Sumayya playing B flat Tuba and Miriam playing B flat Trombone from the Brass for Africa Uganda program.
